When the Serpents quarreled during the War of the Doors, they changed everything in their quarrel. While the world recovered, there is an instability beneath its skin. Knock might allow us to bypass it, or Moth might protect us as we venture through.
Expeditions
- Probably not a Colony
Requirements
- Knock (Invokes the Ferryman)
- Moth (Invokes Old Tarnished)
Knock Invocation
We call upon the Ferryman
- Knock 10: We call upon Dolomedes, who balances all things. The Dolomedes protects the Mansus, just as it binds the moon with white silk. It will bind up this wound the same way. We shall be able to pass.
- Knock 5: We call upon Dolomedes, who keeps the peace. The Dolomedes has never breached an agreement, and it was charged by the Great Serpent to take only the Dead. It should probably be safe to call upon its power to aid us.
- Knock 1: We call upon Dolomedes, who judges. The Dolomedes made the first bargain with the first humans. It judges their merit based on that bargain. It might aid us, even so.
- Knock Success: The curse is ablated. The wounds in the world have been bound with silk, like bandages on an injured patient. We may pass unharmed.
- Knock Failure: What have we done? It's coming into the world! We must flee for our lives, while we still can!
Moth Invocation
We call upon Old Tarnished
- Moth 10: We call upon El Rey Dorado, who is unconquered. El Rey Dorado is the keeper of the Mansus' status quo, preventing wars like the one which caused this madness. None challenge him and go unpunished. With his power, we shall pass.
- Moth 5: We call upon El Rey Dorado, who is resplendent. El Rey Dorado is a fierce Hour, but one who protects humanity. He will probably hear us from behind the Gilded Gate, and come to our aid.
- Moth 1: We call upon El Rey Dorado, who is defiant. The Hours of the Doors imprisoned El Rey Dorado for his transgressions. He still listens to humanity from behind the Gilded Gate. He might aid us.
- Moth Success: The curse shatters! We have beaten back what is, and what is not. We will continue on our quest.
- Moth Failure: The curse clings. Fragments of reality and unreality have burrowed beneath our skin. Someday soon, there will be a reckoning.
