"For the Glory has its law and its doctrine, and yet if you cast it into the void, there shall be as nothing. It is the dark which defines the golden light, and it is the mercy that is the law's shape."
- Moonlit of the Flooding Dusk
Where there is light, there must be dark, and where descended Resplendence-of-Dawn from the Glory, so did Flooding Dusk. Flooding Dusk is creeping night, the Hour of the day drawing to an end and the warm, comforting lights that yet remain, Flooding Dusk is the Hour of mercy from the sun's rays and the Glory's dictates. Flooding Dusk is one of the remaining survivors of the end, a last mercy that is denied it.
Description
History
"Our Hour remains regrettably indisposed, but everything remains in order. We here continue as the representatives of Light's Mercy, acting with the voice and force of our estimable patron. The serenity of night remains."
- Twilit of the Flooding Dusk
The siblings of light and darkness descended from the Glory together, and as the House took its shape, they reigned in its apex together as some of the first gods. It was they which spanned an abyssal and refulgent night and watched the Mansus change to the tune of new gods and new orders, ever above it all. They watched as Via spanned an endless citadel without walls or roads, they lasted as their Nemesis came and rose to exalt humanity and bring it to glory. Above it all, they were there, the first among the Hours and the foremost children of the Glory
And then came the War, the murder of its sibling.
In the aftermath of the defeat of the present regime of the Mansus, as Via sealed the Gate Without, Flooding Dusk retreated further and further into the salvaged remains of its domain and not participating in the tumultuous debates and acrimony that followed the terrible defeat, ignoring even its closest servants. This slowly began to worry its few remaining Names, who began to look into what so preoccupied their master, and they began investigating the deepest darkness of its sanctums. It was Extinguishment-of-Dawn which first uncovered what Flooding-Dusk intended - its own destruction. News spread quickly and secretly through the ranks, and action was taken.
Rumours, of course, of a coup are hearsay and balderdash, as is the slander that Via and the other remaining Hours Before were involved. There is no such thing as the Eventide Camarilla playing its Hour as a puppet. There is nothing wrong here. The serenity of night remains, and though matters may not improve, may it continue to remain.
Appearance
Flooding-Dusk appeared in the Mansus as a towering, liquid titan of inky black material, through which ran streaks of beautiful twilight colours - sunset and crimson, indigo and violet. Despite its inky void, its self and form is lit by a pale, strange moonlight, which it casts in its surroundings, usually merciful, sometimes burning. Flooding-Dusk has not been seen since the end of the War.
As its sibling, Flooding Dusk held a secret cruelty. Unlike its sibling, Flooding Dusk occasionally indulged it. For in the night, comes also the swallowing dark and things that make one be never seen again. Sometimes, it takes a form with more knifes and claws and hooks.
Principles
Flooding Dusk is Lantern, for it is yet a child of the Glory above, but it is also Heart, for it is mercy and protection and sanctuary and succor, that which will not allow to end from ruthlesness.
Worship
Cult
Once the Church of the Morn's End revered the Flooding Dusk in the Wake. With the rest of the cults to the Hours Before, it was suppressed after the War. Its operation is rumored to continue in secret in many cities, where reprieves or salvation is needed. Its operation is rumored to operate openly in certain cities loyal to the radical sections of the Society of 2053.

Names
Candlelit
Candlelit of Flooding Dusk is mercy for what should not be known. Appearing as a cowled, shrouded form bearing a candle, Candlelit of the Flooding Dusk brings the light that illuminates long-ago parchment destroyed or sealed and gleans secrets erased or suppressed. An invocation of Candlelit and the light of their flickering flame reveals the secrets of the foe.
Extinguishment-of-Dawn
And when the presence of the sun falls at last and the creeping twilit world comes, such is the doing of the Extinguishment-of-Dawn. This emanation of Flooding Dusk is its wake, the inevitable falling of light and the decay of the sun that shall not be denied. All things end, even the sun's rays.
Twilit
Twilit of Flooding Dusk is mercy for places and occasions that should not be.
Night-of-Terrors
By twilight, as the last of the sun fades, so does the last of sight. As the night finally creeps in and the pitchest dark drinks greedily of the world, one may step in. One may not necessarily step out again, for where you see nothing there may lurk teeth and knives and fangs and claws and death. In the wake of Flooding-Dusk, comes a Night-of-Terrors, and comes waxing murder in all its forms, unseen forms not for their invisibility, but for in the night, there may lie legions and you may yet see nothing.
Locations
The Mansus
Deepest Black
The new sanctum of Flooding Dusk bears no resemblance to its old kingdom. No light illuminates this land of shadows, for in remembrance of the sibling it lost, the Dusk would not replace its radiance. Those who could see anyway do not speak of what they do see. In the night comes peace and succor, and with it as well, all the things that yet go bump and creak, the crueller children of the Night.
The Histories
The Land of Forever Night
The northernmost and southernmost parts of the world have been consumed by midnight. It is the realm of the Flooding-Dusk, yet it is a demesne it does not frequent or take care of. In that dark, then, terrible, monstrous creatures hide in this land of forever night, in this land of certain death.
Aurora Universalis
Once, there was a brilliant array of dancing lights, following the pilgrimage of the sun. In the northern places, in the Land of Forever Night, there is a mercy writ in the heavens. A last promise by an Eventide Council that, of course, does not exist - that they will yet return, and the world will again be kind and merciful. And in that mercy, it is said, is an ocean of secrets and power.
