Lock text: From a distance they look like average partygoers, but the manic fervor in their eyes and their obscene... ”games” mark them as anything but. They demand we join them at once. We will need to either bypass them or force ourselves through.
Start text: The air is thick with perfume, debauchery, and alcohol. Don't get caught up in the throng. We may be able to fight our way through, or use the mysteries of entry to seek another route.

Knock Invocation

We call upon the Ferryman

  • Knock 10: We call upon Dolomedes, who is unrelenting. We will not be distracted or deterred from our purpose. We will find a way through, no matter what it may cost.
  • Knock 5: We call upon Dolomedes, who is sober. Youth and vigor are not insubstantial opponents, but often lose to old age and treachery, and the Dolomedes is well-versed in both. We will probably find a way.
  • Knock 1: We call upon Dolomedes, who judges. This is not an Hour to call upon carelessly. We might become lost and forgotten within the crowd, and taken as payment for its service.
  • Knock Success: These streets are packed so fully with partygoers those who have passed out are still standing with the revelers around them. But a shortcut here, a back alley there, and we’ve bypassed the human blockade. We may advance.
  • Knock Failure: Alone, these waifs and vagabonds might not seem like much. But in their revels they are legion, and even the oldest among them is possessed of an unnatural vigor. They engulf us, groping and hungry. It shall be some time before we can break free.

Edge Invocation

We call upon Old Tarnished

  • Edge 10: We call upon Old Tarnished, who fells all foes. Wherever he goes, he leaves a resplendent path behind him. So we shall too, clearing away the revelers and creating a path before us.
  • Edge 5: We call upon Old Tarnished, who cannot be touched. The ruler of the Golden City conquers all, and remakes it in his will. We can probably muster the ability to do the same here.
  • Edge 1: We call upon Old Tarnished, who does not have the time for this. The Hour of conquest wanes with the whims of his city. We might be able to quickly make a path.
  • Edge Success: The Upstart is the Hour of Youth and Vigor, but we are no mere street rabble. We wade into the fray, shoving and pushing. Eventually the touchier members of the crowd relent and the crowd slightly parts. We may advance.
